Sylvia Davis

Sylvia Davis, 84 of Reading, PA., went home to the Lord on October 4, 2025 while she was at the Reading Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, PA., she was the daughter of the late Nathaniel, Sr. and Arletta (Jones) Hines.  Sylvia attended Thomas Edison High School and Franklin Learning Center, Philadelphia, PA.  Sylvia was a Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Homemaker for many years.

She is predeceased by brothers, Nathaniel Hines, Jr., Rodney Charles Hines; sister, Lillian (Hines-Jones) Washington and her grandson, Brandon “Chunky” Davis.  Surviving are two daughters, Pauletta “Vicky” Davis and Regina Davis of Philadelphia, PA, and her son Richard Davis and daughter-in-law Amy (Hall) Davis, Reading, PA; sisters, Barbara McKinney, Abington, PA., Brenda (Thomas) Precha’, Bristol Borough, PA; brother, Michael (Joan) Hines, Burlington, NJ; 15 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends.

Sylvia was a people person and loved the company of others. She liked coloring in her color books, reading her bible quoting scriptures, watching TV and yes, her favorite past time, talking on the phone with loved ones and friends. She touched the hearts of everyone she came in contact with. Sylvia is a one of a kinds soul who will never be forgotten and truly missed.

Services will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025. Viewing will be held from 9-10 AM at the Cramp Hummel Funeral Home, 934 Centre Ave., Reading, PA. A celebration of life will be held from 10AM-12PM at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading, PA. Online photos and memories can be shared with her family at www.cramp-hummelfuneralhome.com
