Margaret Kakas Obituary

Margaret A. Kakas, 65, of Douglassville was called home to her Lord and Savior on January 22nd. Margaret passed away peacefully in her residence where she was surrounded by her loving family after a long illness. She was the wife of the late John W. Kakas, who passed away on October 6, 2017.  Born on March 26, 1954 in Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of Margaret H. (Koenig) Molnar, Muhlenberg Twp., and the late Stephen J. Molnar. She was a devout member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Douglassville and she carried a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Margaret was a career nurse where she worked in all aspects of the profession, from staff nurse to supervision, and she taught nursing towards the end of her career. Margaret received her Bachelors of Science from Alvernia University where she was a member of the first graduating nursing program.  Margaret valued her faith, her family and friends, a love of learning, all furry creatures (especially her German Shepherd, Wolfgang, whom she was training to be a therapy dog), and music. She loved to garden and to play the piano in her spare time. Margaret was a strong and stoic woman with an irreverent sense of humor evidenced to all around her. She was a relentless optimist. Her family and friends will greatly miss her.   Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her three beloved daughters, Donna K. Heaslip (Richard), Philadelphia, PA, Patricia M. Kakas, Philadelphia, PA, Theresa M. Himmelberger (Richard), West Lawn, PA; one cherished son, Christopher J. Kakas (Charlene), Hampstead, NC; four brothers, Stephen Molnar (Bonnie), Mahwah, NJ, Michael Molnar (Maggie), Allentown, NJ, Andrew Molnar (Sue), The Villages, FL, John Molnar, Pompano Beach, FL; and five treasured grandchildren: Miranda, Savannah, Annalyse, Gavin, and Lanie. A mass will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at her parish, the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 905 Chestnut Street, Douglassville, PA.  A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the church.  Interment will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.  Memorials may be made in her memory to the Deputy Kyle D.
