Frances Szabo Obituary

Frances A. Szabo, 78 of Leesport, PA., passed away in her sleep early April 25th at Berks Heim where she was a resident.  Born in Bethlehem, PA., she was the daughter of the late Michael and Kathryn (Sabol) Szabo.

Frances found a second home while ant Berks Heim. She enjoyed helping others and was the activity’s coordinator, joking and harassing the nurses and most of all, spending time with her best friend in crime, her roommate Opie. She truly loved every minute she spent there- minus her complaints about the food!

Frances was a graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School and had worked as a Teacher’s Aide at Governor Mifflin School District for over 20 years.  She is survived by two daughters, Kristen A. wife of Richard Bagenstose and their children, Reiley and Mason of Leesport, PA., Kimberly Wilder and her children, Maia and Isaiah of Washington Boro, PA.

There was nothing that Frances cherished more than her family. Her grandchildren were the bright spot in her day, and she never failed to ask about them during her phone calls. Some of her fondest memories included a Christmas cookie baking tradition, where we all gathered to bake Christmas cookies. Frances was a pet lover and enjoyed her visits from her grand puppy Milo- she always had a new toy for him that she won at bingo. She also loved to share stories about her grand puppy Buddy and how much trouble he would get into- like the time he opened the refrigerator and ate things he should not have eaten!

While she loved spending time with her family, playing board and card games, coloring and reading, Stone Harbor held a very special place in her heart. She spent many, many summers there. When she physically couldn’t get there, she lived vicariously through those that could. She loved her fudge and taffy from the Fudge Kitchen and always asked about Fred’s Tavern and Hoys.

Frances did not want any kind of service; her ashes will be scattered in Stone Harbor over her birthday weekend.

We love you mom-always and forever, to the beach and back.❤️ Online photos and memories can be shared with her family at Cramp-Hummel Funeral Home & Cremation of Reading
