Everett Carpenter, Sr. Obituary

Everett C. Carpenter Sr. age 78, of Downingtown Pa passed away peacefully October 18, 2022 at Chester County hospital. He was the son of the late Leonard Carpenter and Hazel Ogden of West Chester Pa and later went on to be raised by his cherished Aunt Ethel Thompson. Preceded in death by his brothers Leonard Carpenter, Gerald Carpenter, son Edmund Carpenter, and loving wife Laura Carpenter of which they shared 53 years of marriage. Everett is survived by his children Eve Socks, Everett C Carpenter Jr, Evan Carpenter, Ellie Wright, and Emmy Shapard.    Following his graduation in 1962 he married his high school sweetheart Laura whom he loved deeply. He was a proud veteran of the United Sates Navy. Everett went on to work at Johnson Matthey and started a wonderful family. Everett affectionately became known as PopPop by his 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  A stoic but hard-working family man, Everett passed on the importance of family bonds, and respect to his children and grandchildren alike, while still finding time for fun. Always good for a drink and a dance, to know Everett was to know a good time. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed crabbing and spending time on his boat with family and friends. He was a life member of the Downingtown VFW Post 845. Although he will be forever missed, the best parts of him are survived by his children and grandchildren.  Services will be private at the convenience of the family. An honorary donation in his memory may be made to the Downingtown VFW – Post # 845. MARK J HUMMEL Funeral Home, Lower Alsace Twp., Reading has charge of arrangements.  Online photos and memories can be shared at www.markjhummelfuneralhome.com
