Dr. W. Edwin Sauer, 89 of Douglassville Pa. and husband of Suzanne (Bieber) Sauer, passed away on May 29th at his home. Born in Norristown, PA. he was the son of the late Walter and Alice Sauer.
A graduate of Norristown high school and Ursinus College, Ed received his Masters and Doctorate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania.
After retiring from Proctor and Schwartz in the mid 1990’s Ed spent his time in Equestrian competition where he served a Technical Delegate for horse trials throughout the north east. Ed was a scorer for the Equestrian Team in 1984 Los Angeles, 1988 Seoul South Korea, and the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games before moving to his second career as a Professor of Engineering, retiring from Penn State Berks in 2023.
Ed was predeceased by daughter, Ellen Sauer; brother, James Sauer; sister, Joann Cook. Surviving are his children, David (Paula) Beam of Reading, PA, Sandra Felty of Douglassville, PA, Ed (Roseann) Sauer Jr. of Levittown PA, William Beam of Douglassville, PA, Gretchen (Joe) McHale of Media and 11 Grandchildren.
