Catherine “Dolly” Rudolph Brickus, 91, of Coatesville, PA departed this life on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at the Tower Health Brandywine Hospital, Caln, PA.  Born in Coatesville, PA she was the daughter of the late Robert and Irene Toomer Rudolph. Catherine was a twin, and she and her twin brother, Joseph, were the youngest of nine children. She was the wife of the late Frederick Brickus, Jr. with whom she shared 63 years of marriage prior to his passing.   Dolly, as she was affectionately known, was a graduate of Coatesville Area schools. She was employed as a Nursing Assistant for 26 years at the Embreeville State Hospital and served as a volunteer there for several years after retiring in December 1982.  Prior to that, she worked at the Veterans Administration Medical Center of Coatesville in the Dietetic Department for 3 ½ years.  Catherine’s life and heartbeat were in the church. She joined the First Baptist Church of Passtown at the age of 15.  During her younger years she was highly active in many organizations and ministries in church, such as the Adult Overseer of the Children’s Choir and the Adult Overseer for the Youth Choir of which she sang as a youth.  She was a member of the Senior Choir for over 50 years and served as the choir’s President for 16 years.  She was also a member of the Gospel Chorus for many years.  She seldom missed Prayer Meeting and was a songbird for Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting.  Besides singing she also enjoyed working in the Missionary Society for over 50 years and had served as its Secretary for 22 years.  She was a member of the Pastor’s Aid for over 50 years, a faithful Vacation Bible School worker, and a member of the Church Women United and Forever Young.  Catherine often served as the Secretary and sometimes Treasurer for most of the organizations in which she was a member. She was selected Mother of the year in 2001 and was recognized for her outstanding service in 2019 by the Ministerial Alliance of Coatesville and Vicinity.
Catherine was always giving, caring, helping, and serving anyone in need.  Cooking, baking, and growing flowers were hobbies that she thoroughly enjoyed. She found time to bake her famous zucchini and banana nut breads, make a big pot of chicken or vegetable soup, and distribute to her family, neighbors or church members who were sick and shut in as part of her own personal ministry work.
She is survived by one daughter: Cheryl (Bruce Fleming) of Bowie, MD, and one son: Kevin L. Brickus of Coatesville, PA; 1 brother, Joseph Rudolph; 3 grandchildren Nicole (Eric Abraham), Justin, Jared; 2 great grandchildren; sisters-in-laws; brothers-in-laws; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by 6 brothers (1 died a lap baby, and 1 was still born):  Edwin Rudolph, Frederick Rudolph, Zebedee Rudolph, and James Rudolph and one sister:  Mayzell Ford.     Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Passtown, 117 Barber Avenue, Coatesville PA 19320.  Masks and social distancing will be observed.  Private funeral services will be held at 11:00 am at the church on the day of services in accordance with PA COVID-19 guidelines.  A live stream link to the funeral services will be available on this website..  Interment at Philadelphia Memorial Park, Frazer, PA.
